Jakarta Workshops September 2018

Nico Ng

A big thanks to Tombow Indonesia (PT. Datascrip) for inviting me to teach two classes in Jakarta last September 22 to 23, 2018. This is my first international workshop class. I had so much fun sharing my skills and getting to know everyone!

My first class was on Brush Lettering Composition & Floral Decorations. This advanced workshop is designed for those looking to enhance their lettering composition skills. In this workshop, I taught my students how to use word hierarchy to compose engaging layouts. I also shared some brush lettering styles and an easy floral decoration style to improve their overall composition.

I had the best workshop assistant, the extremely talented @jerome_jonathan!

My second class was about Creative Brush Pen Techniques. This workshop can be divided into two parts. The first part of the workshop was about Leaf Lettering with Color Blending. This is a fun way to create letters in a creative style, my students learned how to use real leaves to create beautiful letters with natural leaf textures. The second part of the workshop was about Ribbon Style Shadow Calligraphy. In this part of the workshop, my students learned an interesting brush pen technique on how to create eye-catching ribbon-style letters with shadows.
